The UFR Textes et Sociétés has no equivalent within the
French academic world. It brings together six autonomous departments
representing disciplines that are rarely associated elsewhere (History,
French Literature, General and Comparative Literature, English Literary
Studies, Sociology, Political Science), together with a
transdisciplinary department (Gender Studies). Far from being a
juxtaposition of disparate elements, the UFR Textes et Sociétés
is an interdisciplinary laboratory that allows its various disciplines
to cross-fertilize, by blurring boundaries and promoting frontier
crossings.
The UFR Textes et Sociétés is highly open to dialogue and has developed numerous international partnerships.
The UFR Textes et Sociétés offers its students the
possibility of developing their critical acumen. It encourages openness
to dialogue and an awareness of complexity. Its students develop skills
which are highly prized in numerous fields of activity, such as
teaching, the book world (publishing, libraries, documentary services,
archives, bookselling), the world of culture (museums, the heritage
industry, cultural activities, journalism, radio and television), as
well as in business, banking, tourism, public relations, international
organizations (both governmental and non-governmental), local
government, diplomatic services, research and the creative sector.
